PT3 shuts down PC

Postby PartyAnimal » Fri Jan 20, 2012 8:53 am

After clicking on the "Texas Holdem" tab, my Dell laptop becomes very noisy when trying to populate the Player List with over 200,000 players and has sometimes been shutting down this past week. I turn the laptop back on and try to click on a different report tab and the fan runs at the highest speed again and shuts down my laptop again.

Is this probably caused by having a large 45 GB PT3 database with so many players? Is there a way to purge players, e.g., from sites that I currently don't play in anymore or have no hands with for over a year? Will enabling logging be helpful to Support; will the log file be saved during the shutdown?

Even with a database of that size you should not be experiencing computer shutdowns - please attach the last 5 files in the C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.3\data\pg_log folder to a support ticket for us - that will help us determine if there is a problem with PostgreSQL. Have you also run Scandisk on your hard drive to check for bad sectors?

I have run scandsk, but still have this shutdown problem. Can somebody please look at Support Ticket #117205?
