Can't Load PT3?

Postby hokiejc » Thu May 17, 2012 3:15 pm

For some reason I can't load PT3 and I have no idea what the problem is. Here are a couple screenshots that should give an idea of the issue. Thanks for any help.

Do you have PostgreSQL installed? Those errors are implying that PostgreSQL is no longer installed on your machine. PostgreSQL is required in order for PT3 to work properly.

Thanks for the reply. I definitely have postgresql on my machine. I also disabled all my security software to test and still had the same issue. Any other suggestions?

Click Start and type 'services.msc', and find 'PostgreSQL' in the Services list. Is it started, or can you start it?

Please read our Firewall Guide - sometimes disabling won't actually stop it interfering with PostgreSQL.

Under "Services" I get the message "Service status: Stopped" for pgsql-8.3. When I press start I get the message...

Windows could not start the PostgreSQL Database Server 8.3 service on Local Computer.

Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

Thanks again for the help.

Click Start type Event Viewer and click on it when it appears. In the top left pane, click on the Applications area. Look for errors in the top center pane relating to PostgreSQL. Click on the first one you see and tell me what the error text is.

Can't see anything in this window that looks relatable to postgreSQL...

Expand Windows Logs, and one of those subfolders should also be Applications - take a look in there.

8.3.4 is a very old version of PostgreSQL. Please download 8.3.18 from this link, unzip it and run UPGRADE.BAT to upgrade your system, then try again and it will likely work better for you.
