i tried this https://www.pokertracker.com/forums/vie ... =45&t=4510. This file was not there c:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.4\data\pg_hba.conf . it was missing the /8.4/ part. after messing around a bit I deleted the Postgressql folder by dragging and dropping to the recycle bin and uninstalling in programs. I went to the postgressql website and dl the 8.4 file for window's.... when i run that file is says this 'an error occured executing the microsoft vc++ runtime installer.
I have tried running the 9.1 version of postgressql and it says this 'unable to write inside TEMP environment variable path.'

im at this for two evenings now ... please help.

this is a brand new laptop and was a clean install.... not sure what im doing wrong.

Now that you have partial installations please follow the guide in the Documentation to fully uninstall PostgreSQL before you install it.

If you're installing a new version manually we currently recommend 9.0 (9.1 is still pretty new and isn't officially supported yet).

That's very strange - please create a support ticket requesting remote assistance and we'll get you straightened out.

turns out it was Mcafee products that came installed with the laptop.... I deleted them, or so I thought.... what I had to do was d/l a Mcafee removal tool and run it... after that... all the little bugs this laptop was having are gone.... how frustrating.
