4bet preflop stat dont match up

Postby pccarballo » Fri Mar 06, 2009 12:23 am

Im looking at a report of a session of limit HU. And I see that 4bet PF for villian is 6.9%. When I want to see the hands where he did it I go to Holdem cash hand, select Hand # and on filter put "Post SB" and " 4 Bet" and I only get 2 hands where he did that out of 139 he played on SB and thats not 6.9%. whats wrong?

Nothing. He just didn't have not the opportunity to 4bet every hand he was in the SB (only against 3Bet PF....).

Ok but the 4bet Preflop stat is showing that. This stat tells you the number of times this player raised a 3bet. So the 6.9% is the times he did raise it (obv he must have the chance to do it more, since he is calling 3bets and not 4betting them).

The 4bet number is the percentage of the time he 4 bet, given that he faced a 3bet.

So you have 139 hands on him total. How many times did he face a 3bet? He needs to raise, then you need to 3bet.

From the numbers you'd give, it sounds like he faced a 3bet 29 times. Why? Because twice he 4bet. And 2/29 = 6.8%.

Yes. He faced a 3bet 29 times out of 139 hands. But what it confused me is that the 6.9% looks to me that out of 139 hands he was at the SB he 4bet 6.9% of those. So 2 hands dont match with that. If the 6.9% is the times he 4bet when he faced a 3bet it looks like a different stat to me.

I dont know, because of my english, if im expressing myself correctly. What I mean is that the 6.9% for 4bet I assume that there has been a 3bet, because if he is not facing a 3bet he cannt 4bet. So the 4bet stat should be 1.43% (2/139)

Yes its working fine. But I still having trouble to get tyhe logic of building the Colums, like cnt_p_sb_fold. Dont uderstand why the expression is SUm(if[...
I also dont uderstand what is that ,1 , 0]. And also the format of the statistic /%.2f

pccarballo:
He DIDN'T 4bet 6,9% of 139 hands in the smallblind.
He did 4bet 6,9% when he had the possibilety to = he did 4bet 2 times out of 29 times when he was facing a 3bet in the SB.

The 4 bet stats are:

# of times you 4 bet / # of times you could 4bet.

Think about it like this: If you have AA and raise and someone flat calls you would have 4 bet if you could, but you couldn't so you didn't. So you wouldn't want that hand making your 4bet stat lower, since you would have 4bet.

The only way to tell for certain how often you're willing to 4bet is by looking at how many times you do 4bet per chances you get, which is why the stat is built this way.

With regards to stat creation, let's look at: sum(if[X, 1, 0]) The sum adds up whatever is inside. What's inside? if[X, 1, 0]. The way this works is if X is true, it returns 1, if X is false it returns 0.

So let's look at a simple one: sum(if[holdem_hand_player_statistics.flg_p_4bet, 1, 0]). holdem_hand_player_statistics.flg_p_4bet is true when you 4bet and false when you don't 4bet. So for each hand you 4bet, that's true, so the if[] statement returns 1, which is added to the overall sum. Each hand you don't 4bet, the if[] statement returns 0, so nothing is added to the sum. So what you get in the end is the count of how many times you 4bet preflop.

Does that help?

iirc, there is a '4Bet' stat and a '4Bet PF' stat. and i think the default is simply '4Bet' in the main stats tab in the bottom pane
