Position setting on CG 5 Max

Postby julz » Sat Apr 03, 2010 2:13 pm

Hello,

I've just downloaded the PT3 3.00 Beta 30.9 version and there's been great improvements ! (I was running the PT3 version 3 buid 5.1 with Ongame/Winamax and most of the bugs have been fixed... So cool !).
There's just one thing important for me that I can't do and therefore I'm posting (I spent around 2 hours looking in the forum if the subject has already been answered but I couldn't find an appropriate and simple answer).

=> Since I'm playing on 5 max Cashgame tables (there's no 6 max Cashgame tables on Ongame Winamax), I would like to set the positions as followed :
- EP = high jack
- MP = CO
- LP = Button
- Blinds = Blinds (allright for this one)
I'd like to benefit from the 4 positions that are predefined in the HUD template and don't find it so appropriate to have "EP = high jack" and then to have both CO and Button stats on LP... As defined in the HUD templates, the MP is not used in 5 Max Cashgames while it could be more accurate to have precises stats for eacch position.

Is there a simple way to do this ? (I'm not that good in programming).
Anyway even if it is dificult to do it, I'll give it a try !

Thanks for your answer,
Julien

A last question : I can't see the mucked cards of the player that lost the hand when showdown ans the winner is OOP.
A way to fix this on Ongame/Winamax ? Tks

The answer to your second question is that there is no way to see that information as while it is included on their website for the hand, that data is not included in the hand history therefore PT3 does not know what the player's hand was.

Regarding the positions data, you can set this up and it's not too hard but it does require a little work.

Click Start --> Programs --> PostgreSQL --> psql to 'postgres'

The default password is dbpass, you can just type it and hit enter - it won't show you *s, but it is accepting your typing. At the prompt type \l and hit enter. It will list all of your databases, make note of the names of any PT3 databases. Type \connect "Your PT3 Database Name" and hit enter. Note that you will need those quotes if the database name contains a space (e.g. "PT3 DB"). The prompt will change indicating that you are connected properly. Then copy and paste this line and hit enter:

UPDATE lookup_positions SET flg_mp = true AND flg_lp = false WHERE cnt_players = 5 AND position = 1;

It will say UPDATE to indicate it is complete. If you have more databases, \connect to them and repeat the process as many times as you need to. You will then need to go into PT3 and rebuild your cache on all affected databases via the database management window, but then your 5 handed data will show the CO in MP not LP. The other positions are already set as you wanted them.

Thanks for your quick answer.
I'm not english native so I don't know if I get it all but I'll try.
After doing this operation, we agree that all the preflop/flop/turn/river pop-up from the HUD display will set the CO stats in the MP stats column and won't sum it with the Button stats in the LP column ? Tks again

Bad luck for my second question, I'll have to keep on clicking on the HH button of Winamax to see the hand of the OOP guy after a winning showdown from the guy in position...

Once that setting is changed and the cache is rebuilt, everything that uses LP will be only button hands when 5 handed and everything that uses MP will be CO only hands when 5 handed.

This won't change the definitions if there are more or less players at the table.

I'm nearly all good (all actions on Postgre succeeded as you wrote), but I don't know how to "rebuid my cache" once I'm in the "database management window".
What action should I do :
-> "purge", "back-up", "housekeepping", "restore", "adjust limits", something else ? Tks

Really sorry to bother you again, bu it still doesn't work.

I did precisely what you said on the PostgreSQL program and it seemed to work since I get the "Update 1" when I copy your code once connected to the "PT3 DB". (There are 3 other databases called "postgres", "template0" and "template1", but on these one the operation doen't seem to work : when I get connected to 'postgres' and copy the code it says "relation "lookup_positions" does not exist", and for both template it says "database template is not currently accepting connection").

Anyway I then got into the Database Management and click "Housekeeping" and then quote "rebuid cache" and click.
After shuting down PT3 and reopen it, the MP column in the HUD still does not collect any stat and the CO stats still goes to the LP column.
Tks for your help

That's the only database you should need to do it on. The other three databases are part of the default postgres install and they do other things.

Did you upgrade to Beta 30.9? The Rebuild Cache option is only there for Beta 30.9 and I'm not certain if this will work in Build 5.2 or not. You can find Beta 30.9 on our download page.

Tks for your reply.
Yes I'm actualy running the PokerTracker v3.00 Beta 30.9 version.
What I don't understand is that I did exactly what you told me and it seemed to work since I got the "Update1" message from the Postgre Program.
As I told you, I then got into the Database Management and click "Housekeeping" and then quote "rebuid cache" and click.
Did I miss something ? Is there something else I should do or not do ? Which option should I quote in the "Housekeeping" section ? Tks

You can also change the values in PGAdmin (Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > PGAdmin III).
Expand the database server and Databases > database-name > Schemas > Public > Tables.
Click lookup_positions to highlight it then click the grid icon in the toolbar to "view the data in the selected object".

Here you can find the table size (cnt_players) and position and change the boolean flags in the flg_ep / mp / lp columns.
Do not change any other columns, and make sure you only have one TRUE value per row.
