It's been ~10 hours since I started up my PA after converting my databse to Postgres (I think that's what it's called). Anyways my databse was over 400k hands, is this normal?

What is PAH doing - is it rebuilding the cache?
For large databases rebuilding the cache can take as long as this.

It had said creating cache earlier but I had had both of my converted databases highlighted to be used instead of just the one I wanted so I closed the program and when I started it up again its been updating database for over 12 hours now

If you changed the databases being used and restarted it would build the cache again.
