unable to compact database

i am getting an error message which says i need to compact/repair the database due to insufficient room
How do i go about getting around this problem please?

Are you saying that it's telling you that there isn't enough space to do a backup when you try to compact? What is the exact message you are getting??

error message is as follows
There is not enough free disk space on drive C:\Program files\Poker tracker V2 to make a backup of the database file.
Suggested options are to either compact/repair the database outside of poker tracker or specify a different backup location via the "compact database preferences" selection under the "utilities" menu option.

It means you don't have enough space on your hard drive to save the backup file to. So you either need to free up some disk space by deleting some old files you don't need or tell PT to save the backup to another drive that has enough space. Do you have another disk that has space on it?

no i do not have another hard disk drive,

Go to the c:\program files\poker tracker v2 folder. Is there a file called ptrack_backup.mdb there? If so, delete it, then clear your recycle bin and then try the compact again.

i did something else which was to free up space on my hard drive,i have now got it compacted thanks.
I have also been cleaning the hard drive being careful not to delete anything i need as i need 6.5GB for a video game,i have managed 3GB so far,i do not suppose you have any greatb ideas to help here do you.
I did delete the file you asked about too btw.
