Installation - cant connect to server

Error message abbreviated "Unable to login to database (postgres). Reason: could not connect to server. Connection refused (some numbers...) Is the server running on hist "???" and accepting TCPO/IP connections on port 5432"

Click your Windows Start button then type the following command:

services.msc 

and click on it when it appears. Do you see any PostgreSQL service in the list? Is it started, or can you start it? What is its 'Status' and 'Startup Type'?

In that case please manually download and install PostgreSQL v12.18 from here:

For the two password boxes use 'dbpass' (no quotes) which is what PokerTracker 4 uses by default and you can turn off the 'Stack Builder' option when it's offered. At the end of the install it will say if it is successful or not. If PostgreSQL v12.18 installs successfully try starting PokerTracker 4 again but if that PostgreSQL install does not complete successfully then in Windows open File Explorer and enter the following in the address bar:

%localappdata%\Temp

In this folder there should be a file called 'install-postgresql.log' - please attach that file to a Support Ticket so we can follow up on this with you.

Hi I downloaded and now it works. However it's somehow repopulated all my old reports and data. I wanted to wipe it all because the reports are not working correctly and there's also time zone issues too, since theres not much data in the first place I'd like to fully wipe everything but an untinstall did not work. Can you give me steps to wipe all settings and data to start a fresh?

If you were using PostgreSQL v12 before then after uninstalling it you will need to delete the 'data' folder that gets left behind before reinstalling it:

C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\12\data\

To reset PokerTracker 4 to default you can delete the following folder:

C:\Users\{Windows Login}\AppData\Local\PokerTracker 4

although I'd recommend renaming the folders above rather than deleting them in case you need something from them later (for example your original hand histories are archived in the folder listed above). If you do not see the AppData folder in Windows File Explorer then please refer to this guide.

uninstalled everything as per above, downloaded PT4 again but getting this:

"The PosthgreSQL s installer did not complete successful"

If the PostgreSQL install did not complete successfully go to:

C:\Users\{Windows Login}\AppData\Local\Temp

In this folder there should be a file called "install-postgresql.log" - please attach that file to a Support Ticket where a technician can follow up with you.

it says "unable to read C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\12" and then "Postgres did not install correctly" after running PT4. The file does exist though

That sounds like a permissions issue and/or security software is interfering with the install. Try deleting or renaming the existing C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL folder, then right-click the PostgreSQL v12 installer file and select "Run as administrator".
