If you want to find yourself as the second of three, you can use not(flg_f_first) and not(flg_f_has_position) - that identifies the player as the second of three. Can you give a situation where having flg_f_second adds a significant benefit? As far as I can see it'd only be for 4 handed flop play and above and I'm having a hard time seeing a time when distinguishing between the second and third to act player in that spot being a big benefit.

my apologies.

the request does not solve anything which could not been done before. no idea what made me think that this would help anything, sorry!

what is needed is something like player to act first/second on flop would solve the problem
substring(cash_hand_summary.str_toact_f from 2 for 1)::int . so, something that does not mind if a player just checks or folds or checkfolds like "actors" or "aggressor" does

I'll mention that to the developers on your behalf.

If you run this in pgAdmin, it will create a computed database field that will return what you need.

Code: Select all
create or replace function str_toact_f(cash_hand_summary)
  returns text as
$body$
    select array_to_string(array_agg(chps.position order by position desc), '')
    from cash_hand_player_statistics chps
    where chps.id_hand = $1.id_hand
    and chps.flg_f_saw;
$body$
  language sql stable
  cost 100;
alter function str_toact_f(cash_hand_summary)
  owner to postgres;

You can use this field like any other field in a column.

WOW!
thank you very much. that looks very good.

but what is pgadmin and how do i use it? is there an overview or summary at pt.com or elsewhere in the web that you recommend?

and once i run this in pgadmin, how do i write it in the columns?
do i write in the columns substring(cash_hand_summary.str_toact_f from 2 for 1)::int < substring(cash_hand_summary.str_toact_f from 1 for 1)::int for example or how does this work?

thanks again very much

You're welcome :)

pgAdmin is installed with PostgreSQL. Documentation can be found here http://www.pgadmin.org/.

And for example substring(cash_hand_summary.str_toact_f from 2 for 1) gives the position of the second player to act on the flop. So if the button is second to act, this will return '0'. It works the same as cash_hand_summary.str_aggressors_f.

One nitpick: Bill, if I understand what you did properly, this will be backwards for heads up play.

In HU play the SB is in position (so 9 acts after 8), so I think it would be backwards for them (and only them; once 3 handed everything will work fine). I can't imagine why someone playing HU would need it but . . . better to mention it than not :)

Hehe, good catch :D

@ommaha: Don't forget to put in cash_hand_summary.cnt_players_f >= 3 in your column(s).
