show specific 0 and 100% stats as fractions option

Postby QOTSAfan » Fri Mar 28, 2014 3:23 am

0% means a number of things...... 0/1 doesnt mean much but 0/9 does
100% means a number of things... 1/1 doesnt mean much but 7/7 does
100 is 3 charachters same as 9/9 so id like the more informative method of display available for the information (i dont use the / as a sperator obviously)

there are certain stats i find myself having to clarify sample with mouse over frequently, if i could have....
1 the option to display specific stats as x/x and never a percentage prior to the sample being at least a certain size (for example id start at double digits)
2 display only* 0% 100% values as fractions and a percentage for the rest of the potential values

*and i guess 66%/60%/50%/40%/33% are very frequently ambiguous and get moused over too ... so maybe this could to extend to percentages that are commonly present at multiple samples?

it could get a little complicated to define when a stat would be a fraction and when a stat would be a % but especially in identifying tendencies over small samples i think i would have my attention drawn to outliers i should be adjusting to more than it currently is

and to clarify, i dont want my entire hud as fractions, just a few isolated stats that i rarely have much sample on but then its all the more important that someones turn and river cbets jump out at me if its 5/5 and 5/5 instead of 100% and 100% when i dont have a very big sample on the player

closeley related would be the ability to fade or darken stats based on whether their sample is "relevant" as defined by the user

Suggestions like this have been made in the past and the development team is aware of them.

I'd like to see that implemented as well.

allowing the user to define a relevant sample per stat and have pt4 display different font/text effects above and below that thresshold might also be just as adequate

for example if i wanted all my "relevant sample or more" stats in bold, and my "insufficient sample" hads in regular font

You can use color coding to make visible some information about the sample size. You can also insert the sample size as a standalone stat to your HUD. It might help until the requested function will be implemented.

could you elaborate?

id love it if there were other layers to color coding that im not aware of that would make this information more relevant or easier to interpret

currently the values in the high end of my color coding on some stats is goofy (67%-99% instead of 100% because frequent 1/1 100% instances pose more distraction than 7/7 100% instances offer help and i have to constantly be mousing over 100% either way)

do you mean showing it as a fraction behind/in addition to the percentage?(if not please explain) its nice to have the fraction but the percentage cant be removed so it takes up 3 stats worth of space instead of 1 so i cant use it much

it would be far better to have the option to omit the % in favor of the fraction rather than have just the % or both the % and the fraction

for cbet stats imo "4/8" is better than "50%"

and "4/8" is vastly better than "50% (4/8)" which is redundant and visually a total mess

You would do this using the Colors tab in the stat editor, and you can make formatting changes if you make a custom version of a stat.
Check out the Tutorial: Custom Reports and Statistics which has examples of how to do that type of thing. (It was written for PT3 but the same principals apply in PT4.)

It can be easily done using custom stats, so there's no need to add this feature while you can achieve it studying 5 minutes how stats work

not saying i took your comment as unneccessairly condescending, but ive spent hours making custom stats/columns and trying to learn what customization options are there and utilize some and it still took me more than 5 minutes once i was pointed in the right direction by whiterider to come up with a condition expression that though valid may or may not work/do what i intend/be the most efficient way of doing what i intend. and i couldnt even guess how many more hours i would have to spend delving into custom stats/columns etc to consider myself proficient

but anyways..
so if i arbitrarily decide that 5/5 flop cbet does not merit a colour shift but 6/6 or greater does, the following would be my condition expression:
"#CBet Flop#=100 AND cnt_f_cbet_opp>=6" so 100% frequency at sample size 6 or greater gets a diferent colour
?

is that the best way to go about that for future instances of condiditon expression creation for this and other stats?

still seems suboptimal because

...theres a load of stats and specific ranges/sample sizes i might want this for, thats a load of custom stats to be made and swapped into my huds
...the values i find significant may change over time and need to be edited
...the colour schemes i prefer to use over time may change and the stats would need to be edited to reflect this
...Im not sure it will function as i think it will (will need to test it to gain some confidence)
...1/1 still doesnt equal 2/2 .....still doesnt equal 12/12 and all im doing is drawing a line at what gets colour coded as a 100% i need to notice versus a less relevant 100%, if i set that number at 6 instances, does that mean that 1/1 and 5/5 displayed as the same coloured 100% is more efficient at conveying information than just having the option to have the fraction and no percentage shown??

.... there could easily be a better way offered in the near future by pt4. Id think the option to show a specific stat only as a fraction and not as a percentage should be it, should be easy, should address all the complaints expressed.

and in general i think the following quote as a stand alone sugguestion would very much help your customers notice relevant data more efficiently

"the ability to fade or darken stats based on whether their sample is "relevant" as defined by the user"

made that sugguestion a long time ago and im not aware of any access to font/size/style parameters of text, just colour so maybe it wouldnt be so straightforeward to implement but..

the option to have 1/1 0/1 stats just "not even show up" as percentages in the hud, "black them out", or leave them as "-" untill mouse over..... whatever is easiest to implement that offers users the options to remove visual clutter and allow the user to define what clutter is in a convenient manner seems worth looking into

related q..... can i make the color implemented by a condition expression "clear transparent invisible" etc... because then i could do the above sugguestion myself via lots of time spent duplicating and editing every stat i use that often shows data i deem an insignificant sample size and a distraction
